Kali Mandir Kalapani in Vyas Valley near Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Uttarakhand

Kali Mandir at Kalapani is a revered shrine located in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, in the scenic Kumaon region. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, this sacred temple is an important spiritual stop for pilgrims traveling on the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra. The peaceful surroundings and high-altitude Himalayan landscape add to its divine atmosphere.

Kalapani is believed to be the origin point of the Kali River, also known as the Sharda or Mahakali River. Inside the temple premises, devotees can see a natural water source, which is considered sacred and associated with the river’s beginning. The temple houses a black stone idol of Goddess Kali and offers distant views of Om Parvat on clear days.

Situated near the India–Nepal border in the Vyas Valley, the Kali Mandir lies in a region of great spiritual and geographical importance. Due to its strategic location, the area is maintained under the supervision of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Surrounded by high mountains and close to spiritual sites like Vyas Gufa, Kalapani remains a powerful symbol of faith, devotion, and natural beauty in the Himalayas.
